10) The Emmons RR Depot building was originally located in Norman, IA about 1/2 mile south of Emmons.  See the History section of the site for more information on Norman, IA.  The depot was later moved to Emmons following a heated court battle.  However, the depot was situated on the Iowa side of the state line due to a lease stipulation with the State of Iowa that required that the depot remain in Iowa for 100 years.  The depot was moved to a farm located on 490th Street about a 1/4 mile east of Apricot after rail service was discontinued in the area.  The building is clearly visible from the roadway.  Nels Rasmusson and his brother, Albert Rasmusson, were early depot agents in Norman.  Nels went into the banking business and Albert stayed on as a depot agent even after the move to Emmons.  See #2 above for more information on Nels Rasmusson.  Click HERE for an Albert Lea Tribune article on the history of the Emmons Depot.
