Emmons City Council met on Monday, February 12, 2007 with Mayor Henshel presiding. All members were present.
Minutes of the previous meeting stand approved as written on a motion by Imogene, seconded by Helen and carried.
Financial reports stand approved as written on motion by Imogene and seconded by Helen. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Mark to pay the bills, seconded by Imogene and carried.
Some concerns about the City Council's decision on going with Freeborn County for building permits were expressed at the tmeeting. Nine citizens were present at the meeting. One asked the council to reconsider their decision and have electrical and plumbing inspections only. Some feel like their being penalized for doing improvements to their home by having to get a permit and have inspections done. They felt it just wasn't necessary to have building inspetions in the City of Emmons. A petition signed by some of the citizens that were against having a building inspector was presented to the council. The council asked why no one attended the public hearing that was held on adopting the building code. That's when all these concerns should have been discussed and considered before the council made their decision. The council thanked everyone for coming.
Lot where the play ground equipment stands at the Gateway Center was discussed. The expenses are to be figured fore each mowing and how long it takes to mow the section. An offer is to be made to Bharat to purhcases the mow lots.
